This is the first time in the history of Mumbai that a School Soccer Team took part in an International Football Tournament abroad and in 1990 the Mumbai Schools Sports Association successfully hosted the Friendly Cities International Exhibition Football Matches for Boys Under-12 years in Mumbai and Goa on a reciprocal basis. This event was part of the 25th year of the Sister Cities relationship between Mumbai and Yokohama. Our Association had also deputed Under-14 years Hockey Team to Lucknow to participate in the K. D. Singh Babu Inter Cities Hockey Tournament in the past 2 years in order to give exposure to the budding Hockey Players. We are happy to state that our Hockey Team lost in the Final and took the 2nd position in the Tournament.

We are also proud to state that the MSSA Football Team Boys U/14 and 15 participated in the Gothia Cup International Football Tournament held in Sweeden and Dana Cup International Football Tournament held in Denmark from July 17 to 29, 2006. This year will witness the advent of many academies in Mumbai, Football Academy, Hockey, Handball etc. The young and talented hopefuls of donning the Indian colours at the Olympics and World Cup are nurtured and trained under some top class coaches.

This will go a long way in the character building of the nation, whereby lakhs of children will be indulging in a healthy activity by participating in various sporting activities. This will abet in producing top-level sports achievers in our country thus emulating the recent sports icons like Baichung Butia, Abhishek Yadav, Sania Mirza, Anjali Bhagwat, Rajavardhan Rathore, Vishwanathan Anand and their like.
